The events in Charlottesville has put me in a world of shock. The fact that so many people have so much hatred in their hearts is just unreal to me. As a black American, I am incredibly terrified for my future and the future of all of those affected by hatred and racism. That being said, the amount of righteous anger and people rallying together to fight against the Nazis, the KKK, and the racists has been really beautiful, heart warming, and encouraging.

When my brother showed me this really important video that you need to watch immediately if you haven't already, I immediately wanted to do something, but I didn't know what to do. I think the only thing that I can do right now (and probably the best thing to do) is to speak out against the hate and racism, and it's important that you do the same. My heart was incredibly, incredibly blessed when Kelly from Studio DIY spoke out against the hate and stood up for what is right. Her blog post was really encouraging and she shared a lot of important links (including the really important video that you need to watch immediately if you haven't already) that you should check out. She has a platform to speak out from and so do I and so do you. Just speak out. It doesn't have to be eloquent or longwinded. Say you don't support racism, share a quote from MLK Jr., or post this video - just say something. If someone else starts a conversation about it, don't stay silent - speak out! I can tell you right now that it really does make a world of difference.
